Home heating and cooling split systemCross-section of a house. An outdoor condenser sits outside, and a refrigerant line set runs through the wall to an indoor air handler or gas furnace with an evaporator coil on top. Supply ducts carry conditioned air from the top of the unit out to the rooms, return ducts bring room air back to the unit, and a wall thermostat controls the system. Marker 1 is on the condenser, marker 2 on the air handler, marker 3 on the thermostat.
